Floral Education: A Path to Develop Your Signature Style

San Diego Floral Design | Floral Education | European Master Certification | Botanical Design

In any creative field, education is essential for staying curious, refining skills, and growing as an artist. Floral design is no exception. In an industry where formal floral education isn’t required, ongoing learning helps designers develop their signature style and explore new ways to engage with botanical materials.

Learning Through Experience

Over the years, I’ve participated in several programs that focus on both the creative and business sides of floral design, including Flowering Minds and The Hotel Florist. Each experience reinforced how structured learning builds confidence, creative voice, and the ability to bring ideas to life.

European Master Certification (EMC)

I recently completed the European Master Certification program. The EMC program includes an online 8-week fundamentals course, an online 16-week practicum course, and an immersive in-person advanced course in Belgium. The curriculum combines in-depth design theory with hands-on practical instruction.

The EMC Program is not formula based. Instead, students develop a broad toolkit of skills to use in countless creative combinations. The result cultivates an authentic and unique design style. For me, it was a transformative experience—not just for the techniques I gained, but for how I approach design consciously and creatively. I believe the program refined my voice and taught me techniques that I can consciously select for any design solution.
